Joelle & Joey’s
Story of Meeting
and Falling in Love
Some love stories take years to begin. Ours started with a water gun.
Joelle and Joey met by chance, and the spark was almost instant. She thought he was cute, so she did what any smitten girl would do: she shot him with a water gun. He thought she was cute too, and he spent the rest of the day by her side, talking like they'd known each other forever.
After 1 day together, Joelle left town. She was finishing work and moving to Northern California for grad school.
Distance couldn't dim what had started. For almost two months they talked every day, on long phone calls and early morning and late-night FaceTimes, Joey couldn't wait any longer. He booked a flight to California to take Joelle on their very first date. It was the best weekend
.Two weeks later, Joelle flew out to visit her college best friend, but it was Joey waiting for her at the airport. That weekend he asked her to be his girlfriend. She said yes, They jumped in head first staying at Joey’s parents home and meeting the entire Abrams family at Rosh Hashanah dinner.
For months after that, love lived in airports and on screens. They flew across the miles for family gatherings, weddings, and weekends that were just for them. They shared dinners over FaceTime and fell asleep together on FaceTime every night, counting down the days until distance was no longer part of their story.
Joelle decided to spend her entire winter break with Joey to make sure there were no deal breakers. Let’s just say the answer was no. After 3 weeks together, their relationship was stronger than ever. The end of January, the LDR was finally over. Joey packed his bags and moved to Northern California, and FaceTime turned into real face-to-face time.
After months of living in separate places, it was finally time to make a home together. Joey's parents and Joelle's mom came to town to help with the move. Joey has always been a traditional man, and he had a plan.
While Joey's parents stayed behind to help "decorate" the new apartment, Joelle's mom took her on a Costco run. Joelle went along a little reluctantly, with no idea what was waiting for her back home.
Engaged Era
When they got back, Joelle headed upstairs and walked into the surprise of her life. Joey was there waiting, and he asked his best friend to spend forever with him.
She said yes, and she couldn't have said it with more joy.
Then all the parents came upstairs to celebrate, and one more surprise was waiting: Joelle's dad was there too, so he could share the moment with her.
Surrounded by the people who love them most, Joelle and Joey began their next chapter together. The rest is history.
